Anti-gas suits being inspected by Sir Walter Kirke.
Kirke was Inspector-General of Home Defence and then Commander in Chief of the British Home Guard, however he believed that the threat of a German invasion was minimal.

Two cabinet cards showing the LaPearl family, American circus acrobats from the late c19th. One shows the young Harry LaPearl who went on to become the head clown with Barnum and Bailey. He got married in his clown costume, surrounded by other clowns. And they say romance is dead.

I will have this pair of photos of young and old jockeys in Burma at the Photofair on the 28th May. The photo dates from 1906. I haven’t been able to work out if they are polo players or jockeys. Here is a link to the the full listing.
